This research paper involved allocating my time over a 5-day period. According to the Use-of-Time-5-Day-Calculator, my indirect services for defining, managing, and assessing was at 14%; collaborating in combination with referrals, consultations, collaboration was at 3%. My roles consisted of supporting the students academically, socially and emotionally. I was responsible for guiding an individualized plan to help students address personal challenges as well as social-emotional assistance.
An additional role I played involved academic intervention encouraging metacognitive skills: (1) reflection and self-assessment, (2) goal setting and planning for success, (3) problem-solving strategies, and (4) monitoring and evaluating.
As a school counselor, each of these roles demonstrate advocating for the student -- direct or indirect in manner.
